Witch Hares and Living Landscapes
Join StoryCommons and Different Theatre on October 27th, 10am - 5pm, for the Halloween edition of our witch hare sessions, a day-long workshop exploring witch hares and living landscapes in the magical Cuckmere Valley.
We're delighted to be joined by Sam Chittenden, founder of Different Theatre, who will talk to us about the creation of her play 'Sary', a witch hare play embedded in the winding, enchanted landscape of Cuckmere Haven.
We're also delighted to announce performances from marvellous story-weaver Sophie Gibson, who will tell us the story of the Beekeeper and the Hare, and acclaimed dancer, poet and performer Serena Mitchell (aka RunesnRoses), who will share a poem based on her own witch hare encounter.
The day will offer practices to come into our bodies through breath and movement and to cultivate connection with our more than human relations.
In the afternoon, we'll take a guided walk through the magical valley, and then gather together for a co-creative writing space that collectively explores the lyrical enchantments of the land. Tea and cake provided!
The day will conclude with a rehearsed reading of 'Sary' by Different Theatre, a play immersed in the chalk, flint and flow of the land, which presents "magical story-telling and a poetic serenity in the face of the dark" (Fringe Review).
.
How much will it cost?
The cost for the full day is £65. At the moment, we are able to offer 2 reduced price / or *creative exchange tickets, so please get in touch if cost is an issue. We are also offering a pay it forward option, if you would like to make it possible for us to offer further reduced price spaces.
If you can't make the full day, you are also welcome to join us for the reading of Sary, from 4pm, for £10 per ticket.
*At StoryCommons, we value and pay our artists but we don't want cost to be prohibitive to taking part. Creative exchange tickets are a chance to offer something non-monetary in exchange for being there. It could be purely practical, like helping out on the day, or bringing your own creativity as an offering, for example, if you are an artist, sketching the storytellers while they are telling. If you'd like to ask about or offer for one of these places, just get in touch.
